Wang Jieyin’s ‘Grand Landscape’

Why We Recommend it
Spanning over decades of the Chinese artist’s career, ‘Grand Landscape’ reveals how a detached and relaxed master with great vigour contributes to the “original language” of painting and portrays his great love for nature.
Description
Calvin Hui, co-founder of the gallery, notes that “As a ‘fourth generation’ artist of Modern Chinese paintings, Wang Jieyin, just as Wu Dayu who inspired him, is worthy of recognition for his contemporary expression of Eastern origin and his contribution to their fusion with modern Western painting methods.”
Grand Landscape features over 30 paintings, including oil paintings, ink works and wood carvings. The highlights of the exhibition are the large-scale works in the Grand Landscape series. They convey the contemporary value of Wang Jieyin’s painting by reflecting on modernity: preserving cultural memories of the traditional landscape, reflecting on the disaster and ruination brought by modern industrialisation, while observing the haze of the modern city.
