Ha Bik Chuen Archive Introduced by Critic and Curator John Batten

Why We Recommend it

Art critic and curator John Batten offers insight into the rich archive of noted Hong Kong artist Ha Bik Chuen.

Description

Artist Ha Bik Cheun (1925-2009) recorded much of Hong Kong’s under-researched art history, leaving behind a diverse archive that is in the process of being digitalised by Asia Art Archives and is being used in various creative and academic projects.

In this talk, non profit art space Spring Workshop welcomes critic John Batten’s insights on the archive and its significance. Featured will be Ha’s designs for Christmas cards, blueprints for his largest public sculpture in nearby Aberdeen, scrapbooks and diaries, alongside memories of Wong Chuk Hangs’ printing factories.
