Design Talk: The Timeless Illustrations of Miroslav Šašek
The Design Museum, Sham Shui Po
Why We Recommend it
An expert talk examines the unique visual language of Miroslav Šašek’s seminal 1965 children’s book This Is Hong Kong.
Description
Hong Kong was just one of 18 locations that Miroslav Šašek immortalised in his This Is… series of children’s books, but his nostalgic snapshots of the city in an earlier moment of flux remain among his most beloved. As an exhibition celebrating the Czech illustrator’s 1960s heyday snapshots of the city reaches its close, Šašek’s legacy will be considered further at an expert panel talk hosted by Hong Kong Design Centre (HKDC). Sitting on the panel will be world-renowned illustration expert Professor Martin Salisbury, virtually joining fellow guest Michal Bačak, an illustrator, and moderator Laura Mannering, executive director of the Hong Kong International Literary Festival.
The one-hour talk commences at 16:30. Admission is free but space is limited and advance registration is strongly encouraged.
