Talk at HKDI: Crafting at the Intersection of Art and Design

Why We Recommend it
Listen to a masterclass featuring Laurent Ungerer and Nikki Gonnissen, design masters behind the visual language of Notre-Dame de Paris and Hong Kong’s M+.
Description
The creative synergies between the contrasting yet complimentary worlds and of art and design will be put under the spotlight in a lecture carrying the bold theme “Crafting at the Intersection of Art and Design.” Hosted by Hong Kong Design Institute on 19 May, the event offers creatives an opportunity to hear two European industry leaders discourse on the power of visual language, holistic branding strategies and the evolving design ecosystem, through the prism of sharing their own real-life shared experiences.
As the director and co-founder of the celebrated Amsterdam design studio Thonik, Nikki Gonnissen has championed a holistic approach to design for three decades, working on global landmarks including Schiphol Airport and Hong Kong’s M+ museum — the latter earning a Design for Asia Grand Award. Described as a “master of spatial narrative,” Laurent Ungerer is the founder of Paris-based creative agency C-Album, which has helped shape the visual language of national icons including the Centre Pompidou and Notre-Dame de Paris.
Moderated by HK Initiative’s founder and managing director Darren Chuckry, the talk will take place from 15:00 to 17:50.
