Description
The Hong Kong Design Institute, in a joint effort with Bang & Olufsen and the Hong Kong Institute of Professional Photographers, showcases Recreated Classics: The Music Golden Age in Sound and Frame. This exhibition highlights Hong Kong’s rich Cantopop music history through design, sound and imagery. Spanning the 1980s to 2000s, together with a core curatorial concept of “connecting classics to the contemporary,” the show revives original copies of film images and iconic album covers of legendary stars such as Leslie Cheung, Anita Mui, Faye Wong and the Four Heavenly Kings.
It also highlights rare original works by five master photographers — Jonny Koo, Sam Wong, Cheung Man Wah, Cambo Wong and Franklin Lau — who vividly document the transformation of Hong Kong’s music scene between the 1980s and 2000s, enriching this cultural celebration with a powerful visual narrative.
