In the Mood for Love: Live with the HKPhil

Description

Part of the Hong Kong International Film Festival’s 50th anniversary Golden Jubilee celebrations (which runs from 1 to 12 April), In the Mood for Love in Concert brings renewed intensity to Wong Kar Wai’s 2000 masterpiece. Under the baton of award-winning conductor Joshua Tan, the Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra performs its unforgettable score live as the complete film unfolds on screen. Through rich orchestrations and delicate phrasing, the concert magnifies the film’s haunting nostalgia and restrained passion, transforming its iconic imagery into an elegant dialogue between sound and image.

Having trained at the Eastman School of Music and the Yong Siew Toh Conservatory of Music, Tan is currently Principal Conductor of the Singapore National Youth Orchestra and Director of the Asia Virtuosi. He has conducted orchestras all across the world such as the Beethoven Bonn Orchestra, Tokyo Philharmonic Orchestra and Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra. Known for his expressive clarity and deeply musical storytelling, he continues to shape performances marked by grace and precision.

There will be three performances: one on 2 April at 19:30, and two on 3 April at 14:30 and 19:30.
