Chinese New Year 2026: Parade, Fireworks and Traditions

Why We Recommend it

In February, Hong Kong celebrates Chinese New Year with citywide celebrations from flower markets to a night parade and Victoria Harbour fireworks.

Description

In February, as Chinese New Year ushers in the Year of the Horse, Hong Kong transforms into a dynamic tapestry of tradition and festivity, marked by red lanterns, lion dances and prayers for prosperity. From 11 to 17 February, flower markets at Victoria Park and Prince Edward brim with auspicious blooms, handicrafts, snacks and games, drawing crowds to soak in the festive spirit. On 17 February at 18:00, a night parade will light up Tsim Sha Tsui’s streets with dazzling floats, multicultural performances and carnival energy, kicking off the Year of the Horse. Then, on 18 February at 20:00, Victoria Harbour will be set for a fireworks display that illuminates the skyline.

Beyond these highlights, traditions continue at Sha Tin Racecourse’s horse racing, Lam Tsuen’s Wishing Trees and temples like Wong Tai Sin for blessings, weaving ancient customs across the city’s neighbourhoods.
