Hong Kong Dance Company at 45: Four Voices, One Legacy

Why We Recommend it

Hong Kong Dance Company celebrates 45 years with Imprints, a programme of signature works by choreographers Yang Yuntao, Helen Lai, Xie Yin and Zara Huang.

Description

Marking its 45th anniversary, Hong Kong Dance Company revisits seven landmark works by four prominent choreographers that embody the company’s spirit of innovation, artistry and cultural reflection. The collection explores timeless human emotions and the endurance of women in history, transforming poetic heritage into living movement.

Helen Lai’s Reveries of the Red Chamber delves into repression and desire with psychological precision, while Xie Yin brings luminous vitality to Tale of Three Cities, celebrating the energy of youth and renewal. Artistic director Yang Yuntao’s pieces showcase his remarkable range — from the meditative grace of Shan Shui to the dynamic force of The Legend of Lanling and the lyrical beauty of After Snowfall — while A Dance of Drumming Pulses, co-created with Zara Huang, ignites rhythm and soul through contemporary energy.

Performances will take place over three days: 20:00 on 6 March, 15:00 and 20:00 on 7 March and 15:00 on 8 March.
