Description
Based on Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet, West Side Story tells the story of two gangs, the Polish Jets and the Puerto Rican Sharks, who are battling for territory in 1950s New York City.
When one of the former Jets’ falls in love with the sister of the Sharks’ leader, the enmity between the two gangs reaches its climax. This screening marks the centenary of American composer Leonard Bernstein, who wrote the soundtrack to the musical.
