This year marks the 250th anniversary of the birth of one of classical music’s giants, Ludwig van Beethoven. In this pair of concerts, conductor Jason Lai will take a look at some of Beethoven’s best known masterpieces, exploring recurring themes such as victory over adversity and symphonic grandiosity in the German composer’s extraordinary output.

The programme includes Piano Concerto No 3 in C minor, Op 37, dedicated to Prince Louis Ferdinand of Prussia, as well as Piano Concerto No 5 in E-flat, Op 73, “Emperor,” the composer’s last completed piano concerto, which was written between 1809 and 1811 in Vienna, and dedicated to Archduke Rudolf, Beethoven’s patron and pupil.

Please note that the performances have been rescheduled to 3pm (originally 8pm).
