I Spy With My Little Eye: Voyeuristic Love Story ‘Watching U…’ Returns To Stage
Why We Recommend it
This inventive multimedia play by local production company Cinematic Theatre explores the ethics of surveillance and voyeuristic behaviour through a love story.
In this play, which was first performed in 2016, a philosophy student gets close with his subtenant, a lonely, lovelorn woman. But their seemingly blossoming romance turns dark when she finds out that he has been spying on her with hidden cameras for a social experiment…
Watching U is an immersive play combining the aesthetics of theatre and cinema to
create space for imagination and to reflect on social issues. Through four cameras that are recording the female protagonist in real-time, the audience follow the voyeur’s point of view, prying into the private life of the victim.
The play will be performed in Cantonese with English and Chinese subtitles.
