In the Studio of Renowned Chinese Artist Zeng Fanzhi

Why We Recommend it
This exhibition offers a window into the multi-layered practice of Zeng Fanzhi, whose artworks are a constant dialogue between abstraction and representation across histories and cultures.
Description
“Painting provides me with a gateway to stay in contact with the world. What I feel, see, hear, and think are all articulated through my paintings.”
Zeng Fanzhi. In the Studio was conceived as a single exhibition spanning Hauser & Wirth’s locations in Zurich, London and Hong Kong. The unifying theme of these three presentations are the Wuhan-born artist Zeng Fanzhi’s investigations into the possibilities of painting in the contemporary era.
Featuring new works which have not been previously exhibited, the three exhibitions offer an in-depth understanding of the bold development of the artist’s creative process. On show in Hong Kong are new paintings and drawings that draw on conjunctions of Oriental and Western artistic traditions, emerging from Zeng’s examination of, and reflection upon, the work of French Post-Impressionist painter Paul Cézanne and the 10th century Chinese artist Zhao Gan.
