Ink Art Meets New Media: Wong Chung-yu’s Centrifugal Force

Why We Recommend it
Wong Chung-yu’s idiosyncratic visual language throws Chinese traditional aesthetics into the future with grace and sophistication.
Description
Ink painter and new media artist Wong Chung-yu studied under Hong Kong ink master Wucius Wong at CUHK, where he also received a masters in Computer Science. He went on to pursue an MFA in Digital Arts at Camberwell College in London.
These seemingly disparate fields of expertise are what Wong focuses on harmonizing in his work, experimenting with digital technology within a Chinese painting context. In this exhibit, Wong explores the ways he conceptually links together these practices in landscape (shanshui) and abstract works.
