The Ink Art of Yang Qi: Zen meets German Expressionism

Why We Recommend it
This is the first Hong Kong exhibit of Germany-based ink artist Yang Qi, whose expressionism-inspired works have been shown across Europe.
Description
A Chinese diaspora artist living in Germany, Yang Qi developed an artistic concept fusing together Chinese Buddhist philosophy with German Expressionism, a movement in the 1920s emphasizing feeling over composition.
This fusion manifests itself in his works, which range from paper to canvas to ceramics, with Yang Qi being particularly adept at the art of simple intuitive and economical brush work and colour schemes.
The simplicity of these compositions belies the rich, complex inner life of their artist.
