Description
As a highlight of the “Cheers!” Series, the Leisure and Cultural Services Department will be screening six festive films and animations in various museums, cinemas and lecture halls for film-goers of all ages, cultural backgrounds and interests.
Adapted from a best-selling German novel for young adults, The Legend of Timm Thaler or the Boy Who Sold His Laughter (2017), a BIFAN Children’s Jury Award-winner, follows villain Baron Lefuet who schemes to steal Timm Thaler’s laughter by proposing a deal by which Thaler wins every bet he makes. Will Thaler be deceived?
Another adaptation, from a German children television series, The Peppercorns and the Curse of the Black King (2017) keeps the audience’s adrenaline pumping as young secret agents unravel the mystery behind the mysteries at the Gruber Family’s mountain ranch, such as the cattle falling sick and the well water turning black.
Across the continent, Norway’s biggest family box office hit Santa Swap – Merry Christmas Mr Andersen (2016) is a comic depiction of how carpenter Andersen bumps into the real Santa as he puts on his Santa costume.
There is no better time to celebrate friendship than Christmas, as French film Belle & Sebastian, Friends for Life (2017) tells the tale of the close bond between young Sebastian and his beloved dog Belle. They embark on an adventure to escape from the man who claims to be Belle’s rightful owner.
