Adapted from a best-selling German novel for young adults, The Legend of Timm Thaler or the Boy Who Sold His Laughter (2017), a BIFAN Children’s Jury Award-winner, follows villain Baron Lefuet who schemes to steal Timm Thaler’s laughter by proposing a deal by which Thaler wins every bet he makes. Another adaptation, from a German children television series, The Peppercorns and the Curse of the Black King (2017) keeps the audience’s adrenaline pumping as young secret agents unravel the mystery behind the mysteries at the Gruber Family’s mountain ranch, such as the cattle falling sick and the well water turning black.

Across the continent, Norway’s biggest family box office hit Santa Swap – Merry Christmas Mr Andersen (2016) is a comic depiction of how carpenter Andersen bumps into the real Santa as he puts on his Santa costume.
