All That Jazz: Renowned Musicians Come Together To Make The City Swing

Why We Recommend it

The “Jazz Marathon for International Jazz Day” is a celebration of the cross-cultural music genre in all its forms. It comprises a workshop and a full day of jazz concerts by both local and renowned international musicians.

Description

In celebration of the International Jazz Day (April 30), the Leisure and Cultural Services Department has invited acclaimed international and local jazz musicians to present a series of workshops, and two large-scale jazz marathon concerts. Musicians present include renowned Hong Kong jazz guitarist Eugene Pao, Senegalese/Moroccan musician Mokhtar Samba, and Melissa Aldana, a young Chilean tenor saxophone player.

The concerts, which take place from 15:00-18:15 and 19:15-22:00, will feature jazz from different origins and in different styles and forms of presentation, such as mainstream jazz, contemporary jazz, jazz blended with funk and African beats, and jazz by a unique harmonica trio.  Each concert will include overseas and local jazz musicians, improvisations and playoffs.
