The Blue Study Live: A Jazz Story Unfolds

Why We Recommend it

Experience The Blue Study Live — an intimate jazz series of concerts curated by Justin Siu, unfolding in chapters of bold collaboration and sonic warmth.

Description

Part of the Night at JCCAC special programme series, discover The Blue Study Live, a jazz concert series curated by double bassist and cross-disciplinary artist Justin Siu. Conceived around the idea of a book, the series invites audiences to explore each “chapter” — an evening of improvisation, warmth and discovery within an intimate, book-lined setting.

On 23 January, stellar saxophonist Scott Murphy will lead a piano-less trio with drummer Samuel Chan and Justin Siu on bass. The journey will be followed by guitarist Vincent Choy on 29 January, marking his return from studies in Australia. It then continues into the Lunar New Year period with two genre-crossing collaborations: First Met Music on 5 February, fusing jazz with Chinese instrumentation — featuring huqin player Blue Lam alongside keyboardist Gloria Law, bassist Maka Ma and drummer Tony Sze. The programme will conclude on 28 February, starring guzheng player Grammy Yeung, alongside jazz trio including pianist Freeman Lok, Sze and, once more, Siu himself.

Each performance runs from 19:30 to 20:30, offering audiences an hour of refined live jazz in an intimate, acoustically rich space.
