Jocelyn Lui’s Poetic Journey of Memory and Renewal

Why We Recommend it
Experience Jocelyn Lui Hoi-yi’s The Past is the Future exploring memory, loss and love through light, ceramics and photography.
Description
Multidisciplinary visual artist Jocelyn Lui Hoi-yi’s The Past is the Future is a solo installation exploring the fragile interplay of memory, loss and transformation. Curated by Hong Kong-based photographer Simon Wan, the exhibition uses light as a metaphor for familial love’s enduring yet elusive nature, inviting viewers into a breathing space of warm light and swaying fabric. Handmade ceramic plates and photographs processed with meditative techniques embody the journey from malleability to permanence — mirroring human resilience through vulnerability.
With a background in fashion, textiles, contemporary photography and fine art, Lui’s multidisciplinary practice integrates textiles, photography, collage and ceramics. Her works weave personal history and emotional healing into immersive art experiences. She has exhibited internationally and received multiple arts council grants for her innovative practice.
