KidsFest 2019 Stages ‘The Gruffalo’, ‘Room on the Broom’, ‘Shark in the Park’ and More

Why We Recommend it

KidsFest, one of the largest theatre events in Asia aimed at little ones, returns to Hong Kong for its eight edition with nine world-class theatre productions, many of which are adapted from children’s books.

Description

Founded in 2012, KidsFest is dedicated to engaging children aged 2+ and 8+ in literature and language.

The festival, offering a blend of live entertainment and education, will stage nine productions over the course of five weeks.

KidFest will bring new productions as well as popular favourites to the Hong Kong stage. The programme includes the theatre adaptation of Julia Donaldson’s (b. 1948, London) beloved children’s books The Gruffalo and Room on the Broom, as well as Shark in the Park, which is based on a funny picture book by illustrator and writer Nick Sharratt (b. 1962, London).

For older children and young adults, the programme features the theatre show Private Peaceful. Adapted from Michael Morpurgo’s (b. 1943, St Albans) novel of the same name, it tells the story of a young soldier in WWI.
