Shining a Light on Hong Kong Heritage: Lumieres Festival Three-Day Illumination Extravaganza

Why We Recommend it
Lumieres Hong Kong is a new, free three-night event that will light up the city with artful installations, live performances , workshops, and more.
Description
Hong Kong’s first light festival will turn landmark sites and buildings of Soho, Central and Tsim Sha Tsui into hosts of light installations, video projections, and art pieces by renowned local and international light artists. The heart of the festival will be ‘The Village’ at Chater Garden, where performances, workshops and activities are held and visitors can enjoy local delicacies and interactive art pieces.
In addition to installations, Lumieres Hong Kong will see live performances, such as a ‘Market Red Lamp Dance’ by the Hong Kong Circus, a piece in which dancers incorporate Hong Kong’s iconic wet market lamps, and a special live art performance with light by pioneering artist Kwok Mang Ho, better known as ‘Frog King’.
The festival also plays host to educational outreach activities, including a neon workshop and neon sign guided tour organised by The Hong Kong Neon Heritage, a project dedicated to finding creative ways to preserve Hong Kong’s remaining neon signs.
