Description
Created and produced by playwright Leanne Nicholls, Magnificent Mozart captures the extraordinary life of Mozart and chronicles his rise from child prodigy to the world’s most famous composer.
Snippets of Mozart’s relationships and life stories are accompanied by performances of his music by City Chamber Orchestra of Hong Kong and guest artists. The performance, conducted by Vahan Mardirossian, includes Mozart’s concertos for piano, violin and clarinet, A Musical Joke, an intriguing glass harmonica solo and the sensational Queen of the Night aria from The Magic Flute.
Popular Hong Kong-based actor Jordan Cheng animates the stage as storyteller, guest opera singer Tehmine Schaeffer delights as Mozart’s sister-in-law who premiered the Queen of the Night role, Hong Kong pianist Beverly Leung is cast as Mozart’s favourite piano pupil Barbara
Ployer, Thomas Bloch appears as the notorious Dr. Mesmer on his mesmerising glass harmonica and gifted six-year old local pianist Brandon Lam plays the role of Mozart the outstanding child prodigy.
Apart from music, the stage will be decorated with life-sized 18th century paintings and golden candelabras to bring the audience back in time.
