Make Music Hong Kong Festival Hosts 20 Acts in Two Days

Why We Recommend it

From French jazz to German goth and Korean folk, Make Music Hong Kong is a joyfully eclectic, free music festival.

Description

Celebrated globally on 21 June, La Fête de la Musique comes early to Hong Kong, with a two-day celebration of sound spread across five venues, on 19–20 June. The ninth edition of Make Music Hong Kong will see six international and 12 local artists perform over the weekend in honour of World Music Day. Top draws include the Rémi Panossian Trio, the accessible French jazz group last spotted at the 2024 Freespace Jazz Festival in 2024, and dreamy South Korean indie-folk duo Moher. Elsewhere, the international visitors are indeed an eclectic bunch, with slick Swiss pop producer Balthazard, gothy German new-wave revivalists Levin Goes Lightly, and poppy and groovy Italian singer-songwriter Carlo Valente, plus Hong Kong-based Spanish classical chamber ensemble Asiartic Camerata.

Most of the international artists perform at The Fringe Club on Friday and Terrible Baby on Saturday, while The Wanch hosts local acts on both nights — check the full schedule here. All gigs are free but advance registration is recommended. Meanwhile the weekend closes on Saturday 20 June with two club nights: Afterbeat hosts an ’80s, Tron- and neon-inspired party at Shuffle with an official dress code of “French Touch Disco Robot Glitter.” Meanwhile, Social Room will host a second party, with DJs yet to be announced.
