Celebrate renowned French pianist/conductor Philippe Entremont’s 85th birthday as he returns to Hong Kong to perform an all-Beethoven programme as part of the Le French May Arts Festival 2019.
Description
For more than 40 years the French pianist and conductor has pursued a top international career as a pianist and conductor, and is unrivalled as one of the most recorded artists of today. Entremont debuted at Carnegie Hall in New York at the age of 18 playing the piano concertos of Jolivet and Liszt. Throughout his career he has played and recorded with many legendary conductors including Leonard Bernstein, Eugene Ormandy, Seiji Ozawa, Pierre Boulez and Léopold Stokowski, among others.
Additionally he has pursued a career as a conductor, and previously held the posts of Music Director of the New Orleans Philharmonic Orchestra, the Denver Symphony Orchestra, the Netherlands Chamber Orchestra and the Vienna Chamber Orchestra where he has been given the title of Lifetime Laureate Conductor. In 2015, in conjunction with the École Normale de Musique in Paris, he created the ENSM Chamber Orchestra.
This concert, in collaboration with City Chamber Orchestra of Hong Kong, features Beethoven’s classic pieces: Overture: The Creatures of Prometheus, Op.43, I Concerto for Piano No. 4, as well as I Symphony No.3, Eroica.
