Description
Hong Kong’s famed experimental theatre company Zuni Icosahedron is bringing its fifth rerun of its adaptation of 13.67, a celebrated detective novel by Hong Kong writer Chan Ho-kei. Directed by prominent playwright Mathias Woo, the newest iteration 13.67 2.1 builds on past successes with enhanced stage design, soundscapes and visuals, complementing the compelling acting of the performers, who are joined by rising Cantonese opera performer Wong On-ching. Working with rich source materials, the cross-disciplinary production pushes the limits of theatrical technology while delivering a mesmerising story, navigating ideas about justice and human nature through historical events in Hong Kong from 1967 to 2013.
The production runs from 22 to 31 May, with shows at 20:30 on 22 and 27-29 May, and 16:00 on 23, 24, 30 and 31 May. There are eight performances in total, presented in Cantonese with Chinese and English subtitles.
