Intangible Cultural Heritage Activities at Mei Ho House

Why We Recommend it
The Heritage of Mei Ho House participates in Hong Kong ICH Month 2025 with programmes that explore and promote the city’s intangible cultural heritage.
Description
As part of the inaugural Hong Kong Intangible Cultural Heritage (ICH) Month 2025 themed “ICH Around Town,” the Heritage of Mei Ho House offers activities designed to deepen understanding of intangible cultural heritage (ICH).
From 1 to 30 June (closed Mondays), the ICH Guess & Hunt Challenge presents a series of clues throughout the museum, encouraging visitors to discover hidden ICH elements and learn about traditions embedded in daily life.
On 8 June, a thematic talk titled “Memories, Bitter, Miss, Sweet: The Past and Future of Herbal Tea Shops” will be held at the Function Room of YHA Mei Ho House Youth Hostel. Tang Ka-jau, Council Member of the Society of Hong Kong History, will discuss the cultural significance and historical development of herbal tea shops, examining their role as social hubs and their adaptation over time.
The talk is free, conducted in Cantonese, and limited to 50 participants on a first-come, first-served basis.
Through these programmes, the Heritage of Mei Ho House contributes to raising awareness of Hong Kong’s intangible cultural heritage and its importance in everyday life.
