Memories of West Lake: First Hong Kong Exhibit of Female Artist Wang Gongyi

Why We Recommend it

Inspired by the timelessly beautiful lake in Hangzhou that has moved artists and poets for centuries, Wang Gongyi’s paintings evoke her own spin on the historic scenography.

Showcasing eleven paintings created from 2013 onwards, the works seek to reinterpret the traditional Chinese landscape, each taking nature as the inspiration for their contemporary forms.

These works recount Wang’s memories of the West Lake in Hangzhou, China, a place that continues to deeply resonate with her, introducing Wang Gongyi’s ongoing affinity for nature.
