Mothering: A Multimedia Group Exhibition

Why We Recommend it
PHD Group’s Mothering features works by 10 artists reflecting on birth and the generative processes of life in both nature and humanity.
Description
Inspired by natural laws observed in plant life, PHD Group presents the group exhibition Mothering, featuring 10 artists. Its title and theme are drawn from the phenomenon of death bloom in nature, in which a mother plant expends immense energy to produce flowers before reaching the end of its life cycle. This process invites reflection on time, transformation and the interconnectedness of nature and human life.
The exhibition presents multimedia works by artists namely Chan Ting, Michele Chu, Liao Wen, Yuko Mohri, Sasaoka Yuriko, Tan Jing, Pam Virada, Wang Xu, Xi Jiu and Zheng Mahler. Highlights include Yuriko’s short video Atem, which explores the melancholic process of growing up through a collective of pink- and purple-haired baby dolls floating in an inflatable pool. Another notable work is Chu’s “Twisting Turning Belly,” a life-size bronze cast of the artist’s navel, evoking the intimate gesture of a child embracing their mother’s abdomen.
Visits are by appointment only; the address will be disclosed upon booking confirmation.
