Design Ah! A Family-Friendly Exploration of the Everyday at M+

Why We Recommend it

From chopsticks to toothbrushes, M+ museum’s Design Ah! exhibition encourages viewers of all ages to consider how everyday objects shape our lives.

Description

How does design shape and colour our lives? How we sit, talk, walk, eat and interact? These are the questions asked by Design Ah!, a new family-friendly exhibition at M+ museum which invites the viewer to take a closer look at the everyday items that shape human behaviour – from chopsticks to toothbrushes. Following the immersive, child-friendly installations of last year’s Dream Rooms: Environments by Women Artists 1950s–Now, it sees Hong Kong’s hottest art destination making further overtures to younger guests.

Themed around 10 daily actions, often referencing Hong Kong food and iconography, the exhibition’s 21 stations encourage visitors to stop, think twice, and go “Ah!” with discovery. Inspired by educational Japanese TV show Design Ah! Neo, exhibits employ a mix of hands-on games, installations encouraging participation, and immersive environments to encourage learning through play – hopefully sparking the minds of tomorrow’s creatives.
