All About Mulan: A Retelling Of The Famous Folklore Through Dance

Why We Recommend it

Chinese literature, music and drama and dance come together to offer a fresh take on the ancient, ever-enthralling folklore tale.

Legendary female warrior Hua Mulan was originally described in The Ballad of Mulan, a Chinese poem composed in the fifth century. In the ballad, Hua Mulan takes her aged father’s place in the army in order to protect her homeland. Mulan’s story has inspired countless adaptations in print, film, television and performing arts.

With the production All About Mulan, the Hong Kong Dance Company aims to give audiences a new understanding towards the classic piece.  Apart from Chinese dance, the production will also incorporate Chinese literature, music, interaction and drama to retell the legend.
