Muse Fest 2018: Exhibitions, Screenings, Workshops on Hong Kong’s Cultural Heritage

Why We Recommend it
This annual interactive museum festival plays host to over a 100 programmes to take part in, covering culture, history, art, film, astronomy, science, archaeology and conservation.
Description
The theme of this year’s Muse Fest is “Museum is typing …“, inspired by the anticipation you feel and the expectations you have when you see that a friend is typing a message. This festival provides a platform for visitors to have similar dialogues and exchange ideas with museums, and will play host to various thematic exhibitions, virtual reality games, stargazing activities, fun days, workshops, film shows and heritage tours.
The opening event, “Experiencing the Tales of the Old Hong Kong – Cheongsam & Nanyin Party”, will play host to a cheongsam catwalk show and nanyin performance, as well as a discussion session on the beauty of cheongsams with iconic media figure Tina Liu.
The festival will close with a “Colourful Youth Agogo Party”, screening the 1960s Hong Kong classic musical movie Colourful Youth in a nostalgic setting. A post-screening talk will be hosted, as well as song and dance performances.
Other programme highlights include a masterclass by a bamboo scaffolding master on the basic technique of building a bamboo theatre, a cheongsam sewing workshop, and a demonstration on the magic of an old-style movie subtitling machine.
Please note that some activities will only be held in Cantonese.
