What Remains to Be Seen: Myonghi Kang’s Solo Show at Villepin

Why We Recommend it
The Central gallery presents What Remains to Be Seen, a solo exhibition by Myonghi Kang featuring a selection of the South Korean artist’s recent significant works.
Description
Two years after The Rebirth of Nature: Chapters 1 & 2, Myonghi Kang returns with a new solo solo exhibition, What Remains to Be Seen. Varying in scale and created in oil and pastel, the works reflect the South Korean artist’s observations and experimentation over six decades.
Born in 1947, Kang developed an interest in art from an early age and has also devoted herself to the philosophical and technical study of traditional East Asian painting. The works presented in her latest exhibition embody the artist’s ongoing exploration in nature and the way of seeing. For example, “La Source” is inspired by Andeok Valley on Jeju Island in South Korea, where the artist explores distance, light and perception on the landscape.
The exhibition, at Villepin in Central, also includes her recent series of works on paper created at the Villa Medici in Rome, where Kang would rise at around five or 5:30am in the morning to observe the first light from her room.
