Emerging Chinese Artist Na Wei Reconstructs Fabrics out of Brushstrokes

Why We Recommend it

The solo exhibit of emerging Chinese artist Na Wei features a series of paintings that recreate textures of fabrics and mixed media.

Description

Artist Na Wei was born in 1982 in a small city in Liaoning province, Northern China.

As an ethnic minority, he has used the form of carpets as a symbol of cultural identity in previous series of works in mixed media and oil.

In this exhibit he creates a visual dialogue by experimenting with a collage of different media, technique and cultural elements. He creates the look of woven fabric with the fine brushstrokes and mastery of tone and perspective that add dimension to the paintings.

“My intention is to create a visual experience of the East and the West and to make an impact between the two different languages,” says Na Wei.
