Power Wall: Robin Rhode and Nari Ward at Lehmann Maupin

Why We Recommend it
Lehmann Maupin showcases politically-charged mixed-media works by artists Nari Ward and Robin Rhode, both of whom engage with walls to express their views on politics, history, and identity.
Description
Lehmann Maupin presents Power Wall, a joint exhibition featuring progressive, mixed-media works by Jamaican-born, New York-based artist Nari Ward and South Africa-born, Berlin-based artist Robin Rhode.
The exhibition highlights how Ward and Rhode engage with walls to express their views on politics, history, and identity. Together, the two artists offer a unique perspective of our complex socio-political world through their politically-charged work.
Ward is renowned for his wall installations made using found objects such as shoelaces that examine race, poverty, and consumer culture. On the other hand, Rhode is known for his photographic series that merge photography, performance, drawing, and sculpture. He uses interesting materials such as soap in his work on public walls, and documents the process of creating his art.
The exhibition is also available for online viewing at Lehmann Maupin’s Online Viewing Room.
