The Ethereal Landscapes of Pan Jian

Why We Recommend it

Pan Jian’s melancholy landscapes explore the boundaries between the light and dark, the imagined and the real.

Description

Contemporary Chinese artist Pan Jian draws inspiration from landscape to create imagined scenes on canvas. Playing with darkness and light, he creates poetic scenes that stir strong emotions in the viewer.

Often using dark blues, blacks and greys, his works are tinged with melancholy and foreboding. Based between Beijing and Xi’an, and born in 1975, Pan Jian’s training in calligraphy and Chinese art shines through.
