The Boy Who Never Grows Up Soars at the Hong Kong Stage

Why We Recommend it
This summer, let your heart leap as Hong Kong Ballet premieres Septime Webre’s Peter Pan, featuring costumes by award-winning designer Liz Vandal and sets that enable dancers to take flight.
Description
Septime Webre’s Asian premiere of Peter Pan bursts with freshness and fizz, as this new take on J.M. Barrie’s classic tale transports you to an island of cheeky pirates, Indian princesses and naughty boys who don’t want to grow up. Meet Tinkerbell with her magical pixie dust and Captain Hook pursued by the hungry Crocodile!
Peter Pan features elaborate costumes by Liz Vandal, whose ALICE (in Wonderland) designs won the ‘Outstanding Costume Design’ at the 21st Hong Kong Dance Awards last year, as well as spectacular new sets by Holly Highfill that bring Neverland to life. With a mixed choreography that combines classical ballet, clever slapstick and a touch of hip hop set to an original sweeping score by Carmon DeLeone and performed live by Hong Kong Sinfonietta, this family friendly production follows the adventurous Peter Pan through various hijinks with humour and heart.
The dance production is further companioned by a line-up of events, including open rehearsals for the public to get a sneak peek, Peter Pan Ballet Exhibition – A Fearless Adventure Guide to Neverland (1-31 Aug 2019), exhibition tours and meet-the-characters sessions on 3 Aug 2019, ballet workshops for kids, first-come, first-served on 10 Aug 2019, Live Parade on 31 Aug 2019 at Lee Gardens Area and Hysan Place in Causeway Bay, as well as a series of talks at various venues.
Please note that Peter Pan is performed at Grand Theatre, Hong Kong Cultural Centre during 16-18 Aug 2019, and Sha Tin Town Hall during 23-25 Aug 2019.
