Philosophers on the Streets: @rambler15 Photographs the Power of Words

Why We Recommend it

Influential Instagram photographer Jeremy Cheung searches for the chemistry between photography, words, sociology and cityscape in a new body of work.

Description

“Truth is its own reward” / “The more you know, the less you need” / “Believe you can and you’re halfway there”

Cheung, better known under the moniker @rambler15 on Instagram, snaps ordinary yet intriguing street scenes of his native Hong Kong.

In his latest exhibition, Philosophers on the Streets, Cheung turns his lens on Hong Kongers wearing t-shirts with famous (more or less philosophical) quotes. Through this series, he explores how words in a photo affect the viewer’s interpretation of said image.

Philosophers on the Streets is a satellite exhibition of the 2018 Hong Kong International Photography Festival.
