Why We Recommend it

World-renowned pianist Nikolai Lugansky makes his Hong Kong debut with a dynamic recital featuring Beethoven, Schumann, Wagner and Liszt.

Description

World-renowned pianist Nikolai Lugansky makes his long-awaited Hong Kong recital debut with a masterful journey through German-Austrian works. The recital opens with Beethoven’s intense “Tempest” Sonata and moving into Schumann’s delightful “Faschingsschwank aus Wien.” Lugansky’s virtuosity turns Wagner’s operatic excerpts into rich orchestral experiences on the piano, finishing with Liszt’s profound “St. François de Paule: Marchant sur les flots.”

Celebrated worldwide for his interpretations of Russian composers, Lugansky rose to fame after winning top honours at the Leipzig Bach, Moscow Rachmaninoff and the prestigious Tchaikovsky competitions. Acclaimed as one of the most innovative pianists of his generation by classical music magazine Gramophone, his collaborations with leading orchestras such as Berlin Philharmonic and London Symphony Orchestra and conductors like Kent Nagano and the late Yuri Temirkanov have solidified his reputation.

The performance takes place at 20:00 on 14 September.
