Poetry Outloud Anniversary Party Celebrates 20 Years of HK Poetry

Why We Recommend it

The largest and longest-running poetry venue for English language poetry in Hong Kong promises an evening of readings and a raffle prize of giving away collections by award-winning and seasoned writers such as Tammy Ho, Jason Lee and Kate Rogers.

Description

Founded in 1998 as the longest running poetry-themed event in Hong Kong, Poetry OutLoud meets on the first Wednesday of the month at Fringe Club. The events, which include open mic sections and book launches that have seen the rise of many emerging and established writers both in Hong Kong and overseas, are collectively organised and MC’d by volunteers from the poetry community, and are completely free.

Celebrating its 20th anniversary this year, Outloud will be selling its anthology from 2014, Outloud Too, at a discounted price and having a raffle prize with published poets donating a book each. Featured collections include Tutti Fruit (Sentinel Poetry Book Competition 2017 2nd prize) by Greek-English-Irish London poet Konstandinos Mahoney, Goldfish by Hong Kong creative writing lecturer Jennifer Wong, Smoked Pearl by Canadian poet and spoken-word performer Akin Jeje, and many more.
