French Indie Punk Band Sport Make Hong Kong Debut

Why We Recommend it

After a five-year break, French indie punk-emo band Sport make their Hong Kong debut, showcasing their latest album In Waves and their signature intricate, personal sound. They will be joined by local rock bands Wellsaid and Catscare.

Description

Known for their filmic sensibilities and intricate melodies, Sport have been a beloved figure in the emo revival scene since their 2014 debut album bon voyage. Their music blends deeply personal songwriting with memorable passages as heard in earlier tracks like “Reggie Lewis,” while also entering a contemplative mood in songs such as “Leaves.”

Returning from a five-year hiatus, the French quartet is set to play their first-ever show in Hong Kong on 15 July, spotlighting their fourth and latest album In Waves, which refines their craft while staying true to their signature sound. Joining them are two local groups: alt-rock band Wellsaid, who previously shared the stage with Sport in Germany and Catscare, an indie rock trio bringing a nostalgic 1990s indie vibe to the lineup.

Doors open at 19:00, show at 20:00.
