Reframed Theatre Brings Three New Creations

Why We Recommend it

Fuelled by their trip to the world’s top theatre festival in Germany, Reframed Theatre has crafted three distinct pieces responding to today’s human condition, from relationships and storytelling to the concept of free will.

Description

Playreading Reframed presents three new creations by Reframed Theatre’s artistic director, Yan Pat-to, and two emerging creators who drew inspiration from their journey at the Berliner Theatertreffen in Germany, one of the world’s top three theatre festivals.

Exploring humanity, the three plays include: Nine Scenarios of Lost in Love, a modern reflection on Roland Barthes’ A Lover’s Discourse, which follows nine individuals aged 20 to 70 navigating the diverse landscapes of urban love; When Chimpanzees Start Telling Stories, inspired by Kafka’s A Report to an Academy, depicts scientists training chimpanzees in storytelling, only to discover the animals become more human than their trainers; and Die Gewehre der Frau Carrar, based on Bertolt Brecht’s classic, explores the turmoil of the Spanish Civil War while examining the concept of free will in humanity.

The play-reading performance is available only in Cantonese without subtitles. It will unfold in a rotating format, with each show featuring two plays, followed by an engaging dialogue between guest speakers and the creative team.
