Remembrance: A Tribute to Dinh Q Lê

Why We Recommend it
Curated by David Elliott, Remembrance honours Dinh Q. Lê’s legacy through memory, history and image-making.
Description
Remembrance is a tribute to the late Dinh Q. Lê (1965–2024), a multimedia artist whose work traced the shifting boundaries between memory, history, suffering and representation. Curated by David Elliott, the exhibition reflects on how images can preserve, distort and transform lived experience, while revisiting fractured histories with precision and quiet force.
Considered one of Vietnam’s most important contemporary artists, Lê is best known for his photography and photo-weaving technique. Having built a practice grounded in humanism, inquiry and the recovery of contested narratives, his work has been shown internationally in major museums like the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA), New York; Mori Art Museum, Tokyo and San José Museum of Art, California. He brought Southeast Asian perspectives into wider global conversations while remaining deeply attentive to questions of loss, redemption and the ethics of remembrance.
