Remnants: Solo Debut Exhibit by Madrid Based Artist Alejandro Guijarro

Why We Recommend it
“Remnants” draws on Guijarro’s scientific approach to his practice, using fragments of photographs to interrogate the veracity of the medium.
Description
In Guijarro’s first solo exhibit in Hong Kong, the Spanish artist explores themes of the unseen, hidden, stripping down the medium of photography to fragments and residue.
In previous projects, Guijarro’s has explored the cross section between art and science. His first series, “Momentum”, was the product of a collaboration between the artist and universities including Oxford, MIT, Stanford, and Berkeley – photographing blackboards in quantum mechanics departments.
He is interested in capturing the traces, ephemera and artistry around scientific discovery, a curiosity that also arises in his later project “Lead”, which involved collaborating with museums to scan x-ray readings of Old Masters.
