Luce Iconica: Massimo Antonaci’s Glowing Vision

Why We Recommend it

In Luce Iconica, Massimo Antonaci’s third solo exhibition at Rossi & Rossi, the artist explores the resonance of light through gold, silver and glass.

Description

In Luce Iconica, Massimo Antonaci’s third solo exhibition at Rossi & Rossi, the artist reveals an enduring fascination with light as a pure, immaterial presence, expressed through radiant works of gold, silver and glass. Here, light becomes both subject and substance — a reflection of consciousness and transcendence.

Each piece follows his disciplined compositional guide of 60 centimetres square, creating virtual grids where mental images intersect with spatial perception. Highlights like “Cornerstone” (2019), where tilted glass invites the eye past surface illusion and “Mythos” (2025), a 3.7-metre scroll collaging vintage newspapers and books about Hong Kong into layered images of revelation.

Born in 1958 in Grottaglie, Italy, Antonaci earned a master degree of fine arts in sculpture from the Accademia di Belle Arti di Brera in Milan. Working with materials such as glass, tar and acrylic, the artist has exhibited internationally in Milan, London, New York and Hong Kong.

Presented in collaboration with Novalis Art Design, the exhibition also features select designer furniture, including tables, chairs and lamps by Aldo Cibic, Michelangelo Pistoletto, Franz West and Bill Woodrow.
