Photo Exhibition on City Textures by Sampson Wong

Why We Recommend it

Urban researcher Sampson Wong collaborates with independent studio artellex to present his first solo photo exhibition, In Search of Textures, based on his wanderings in Hong Kong.

Description

Known for his Strollology project launched in 2020, academic and writer Sampson Wong makes his debut photo exhibition in Hong Kong, In Search of Texture, in Cheung Sha Wan. In collaboration with independent studio artellex, the exhibition presents the artist’s whimsical documentations on his 13-day journey roaming the city’s streets.

On view are 65 curated pairs of text and photographs by Wong that capture Hong Kong’s distinct urban essence through a sense of “immediacy” while strolling, directing attention to street corners and everyday moments often left unnoticed.

Each print is carefully reproduced to reflect the colours, light, and textures of each urban fragment, as if walking alongside Wong through the neighbourhood. More than a visual showcase, the exhibition invites the public to catch fleeting ideas from their own walks and to appreciate the endless inspiration the city has to offer.

The exhibition is closed on Mondays, with access by appointment via online booking.
