Sata Fest: Art and Technology Exhibition on Old Hong Kong Shops

Why We Recommend it
The debut exhibition by the Society for Art and Technology Asia (Sata) showcases local artists’ reinterpretations of old Hong Kong shops, along with exhibits from overseas artists, exploring the relationship between art, technology and the society.
Description
The inaugural exhibition presented by the Society for Art and Technology Asia (Sata), Between the Between explores the relationship between art, technology and society.
Multimedia zones showcase the outcomes of Sata Fest’s Summer School, which saw groups of local artists engaged with four long-established local businesses to re-examine their histories, meanings and stories through multimedia. The zones include “Sweep,” which applies electronic art to the seal engraving shop Pun Han Sin Koon; “Resonant,” which explores sonic art with grocery store Chu Wing Kee; “Duration,” which uses bio art to engage with Kee Heung Chun Tea Company; and “Composing,” which combines graphic art with Kwong Wah Printing Company.
Alongside the four local projects, the exhibition also features works by overseas artists exploring the intersection of art and technology. Participating artists include Tromarama, a video, installation and programming collective from Indonesia, and Unmake Lab, a research-oriented art collective from South Korea.
The exhibition also offers free talks and activities covering diverse topics, with all sessions conducted in English and accompanied by live digital Chinese translation.
