Snowmelt: An Immersive Journey Through Nature

Description

Co-presented by WestK and non-profit art collective ALAN, Snowmelt brings together digital art and immersive theatre at The Box in Freespace, reimagining environmental storytelling.

Premiering as a highlight of WestK FunFest 2026, the theatre performance follows a young monkey navigating a wild world of mountain creatures shaped by a harsh environment. Performed by local and international artists, Snowmelt blends sound, projection, contemporary dance and acrobatics into a multimedia spectacle, inviting audiences to reflect on life and resilience through the lens of the animal world.

Post-show meet-the-artists sessions will take place on 10 and 11 April following the 20:30 performances. A stage tour led by the artists and production team will be held on 12 April, offering a behind-the-scenes look at the set and backstage areas. Prior to the premiere of Snowmelt, The Box will be transformed into a digital art exhibition from 3 to 6 April, between 12:00 and 18:00. Free and open to the public, it invites visitors into an interactive environment featuring installations and a series of special workshops led by Snowmelt performers, suitable for both beginners and professional dancers.
