So Near Yet So Far: Chinese Artist Ni Youyu’s Boundary-Crossing Cosmology

Why We Recommend it

The first Hong Kong solo exhibit of Chinese artist Ni Youyu features twelve works that showcase his extensive, diverse and contemplative practice.

Description

Interested in an expansive range of topics and time periods, and drawing on concepts from Chinese antiquity to present, Ni Youyi’s thought process is kaleidoscopic, and his works incorporate complex theories on landscape, cosmology and more.

In this show, Ni maps out cosmologies at the intersection of Chinese and Western thought, using his idiosyncratic gestural language that incorporates techniques often used traditional Chinese ink art.
