Seoul-Based Artists Explore Urban Emotion at Soluna Fine Art

Why We Recommend it

Four Seoul-based artists explore how urban environments shape emotion, memory and perception. Through abstract and figurative approaches, their works offer reflections on presence and interiority within the shifting texture of city life.

Description

Urban Reveries at Soluna Fine Art, organised in collaboration with SYHY Project, features the work of Choi Young-bin, Lee Ja-young, Park Jong-ho and Yoon Dong-chun. Each artist reflects on the emotional and psychological imprint of living in an ever-changing urban landscape — specifically Seoul — and speaks to how city environments influence individual states of being.

Choi Young-bin’s Falling Shapes series reconfigures sight and perspective through layers of geometry that evoke movement, disorientation, and fleeting moments. Lee Ja-young draws from Eastern and Western philosophical frameworks to create abstract visual fields, where brushwork becomes a gesture of continuity, breath, and memory. Park Jong-ho’s portraits focus on individuals in liminal situations, tracing quiet emotional tensions and the solitude experienced in overlooked corners of society. Yoon Dong-chun’s Wisteria series, with its flowing lines and soft colour tones, blends humour and introspection as it meditates on emotion, connection, and the fluid boundaries between art and life.

In its Hong Kong context, the exhibition offers new ways of reading these emotional layers – forming a quiet exchange between cities shaped by density, movement and inner reflection.
