Someone Lived Here: An Exhibition of @des.lo’s Cyberpunk Hong Kong Renderings

Why We Recommend it

Inspired by the cyberpunk aesthetic of movies such as Blade RunnerGhost in the Shell and Akira, Desmond Lo‘s creations show a Hong Kong that is at once familiar yet distant.

Description

Desmond Lo―better known under the moniker @des.lo on Instagram―works as an animator by day and creates neo-noir-esque, cyberpunk-inspired multimedia pieces by night.

Bringing together a number of CGI renders, Lo’s first solo exhibition, entitled Someone Lived Here, explores how the identity of Hong Kong is slowly disappearing. By re-envisioning vanishing parts of his hometown’s culture―such as neon signs―he hopes to preserve them.

The images on show take the viewer on a visual journey and explore what Hong Kong’s cityscape could have or should have looked like, and perhaps―but most likely not―will look like.

The exhibition is organised and curated by ceekayello. Please RSVP to info@ceekayello.com you wish to attend the opening reception on February 15 in presence of the artist.
