Description
Wandering Daily is South Ho Siu-nam’s fourth show at Blindspot Gallery and his latest exploration of Hong Kong’s cityscape through photography, drawing and performance. During the opening on 13 May, Ho will perform “Me, My White Sneakers, and Shoelaces” (2025), a participatory live act that explores boundaries and control. The artist will wear white sneakers with 100-metre-long shoelaces spread across the gallery floor like the retro mobile Snake game. As he and the audience move over time, the laces tangle into obstacles – creating an interactive challenge that requires careful navigation.
In the exhibition itself, highlighted works include “After Every Daily” (2023), where Ho overlays hand-coloured grids on black-and-white photos of towering high-rises create pixelated, dreamlike urban landscapes that challenge perceptions of scale and distance. Another key piece, “It’s Golden” (2025), is a photographic diptych of pinhole camera images capturing Victoria Peak and Lion Rock. Each work is set against a shimmering gold background that embodies unspoken words and hidden wounds, while the two mountains silently gaze at each other across Victoria Harbour. Through depicting the city, Ho illustrates his personal reflections and introspections about the time and place he lives in.
